Gun Smoke and Wood Smoke

The Boers augmented by the Irish Transvaal Brigade took on the Brits once again this last weekend at Ringwood Manor in Upper New Jersey.

(The Boers and Irishers)

There was much gun smoke and wood smoke (two of my three favorite fragrances), and interaction with the audience on Saturday in fine weather - then it started raining that evening. This latter occurrence just served to remind me how WARM a wet wool blanket can STILL be when the canvass of one's period tent leaks.

(Gaiters: the finest in period leg-wear!)

It was a six hour drive each way from here in the Shenandoah Valley, but it was worth it.

John of the 35th Royal Sussex created this Grand Victorian Tactical video. Watch it for a real taste of the action!
